“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news.” (Is 52:7) I greet you with much affection. My name is Fr. Roberto Carlos Becerra Reyes. I am very excited to be in the United States of America and to be able to serve the Catholic Church in the style of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. I was born in the city of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, on September 12, 1980. I grew up in a very beautiful town called Villa Cuichapa, where I received my basic education. I was born the youngest of three brothers in a non-practicing Catholic family. My parents are Fernando Raul Becerra Lopez and (+) Maria del Carmen Reyes Garduza, and my brothers are Jose Aubert and Fernando Raul. I studied at the Mary Immaculate Major Seminary in the city of Coatzacoalcos from 2002 to 2010, and I was ordained a priest on February 21, 2014. I have held various positions such as Chancellor of my diocese and a parish chaplain and vicar. But this year I was invited to serve in the Hispanic Ministry of Cincinnati. With much affection, I accepted, and I will be assisting and learning from the pastoral life in this wonderful country. I deeply desire to grow in my priestly life and to learn from the people and their expressions of faith. I also want to share my experience in order to walk with the Church as she seeks unity and fraternity. My beloved mother passed away on January 26 of this year in my arms, and I promised her to strive more and more to be a better priest. So I ask you to pray for me, care for my vocation, and teach me to be a shepherd with the smell of sheep. I am thankful to all of you for your welcome. I feel blessed by the gifts you have given me upon my arrival to facilitate my stay. May God multiply what you generously share with your priests. "Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward” (Mk 9:41).
