In all families, there is a time for giving and a time for receiving: a time to help and a time to be helped. We want you to feel “at home” on either side. If you are willing to help someone in need, let us try to make that connection for you. For further information, please call the OLR Parish Office at (513) 825-8626 or St. James Parish Office at (513) 948-1218 or St. Matthias Parish Office at (513) 851-1930.
Health & Wellness
The Health & Wellness committee plans and implements activities for the parish that foster changes or support behavior that improves the health of our bodies, minds, and spirits. Activities center around health education, personal health counseling, screenings, advocacy, crisis intervention and integrating the spiritual dimension of health in all that we do. Blood Pressure screenings are offered at St James every other month after Mass in the vestibule during the months of October, December, February and April. Meetings are the second Thursday of each month August through May in the parish offices meeting room at St. James of the Valley.
Visitation Ministry
The Visitation Ministry provides trained parish volunteers to visit members of their parish who are sick, elderly, bereaved or in a nursing care center. Their purpose is to spend time with those in need to express the love and concern of the parish community and to pray with those who find it difficult to attend liturgical functions on a regular basis. For more information on receiving a visit or becoming a visitor, please call the OLR Parish Office at (513) 825-8626 or St. James Parish Office at (513) 948-1218 or St. Matthias Parish Office at (513) 851-1930.
Bereavement Ministry
This ministry consists of a group of trained volunteers who provide assistance to grieving parish families at the death of a loved one. They provide wonderful service by assisting the grieving family in planning an appropriate and meaningful funeral or memorial service or Mass of Christian Burial. Help and support for other needs of the bereaved may also be available. Information on funeral planning at a parish of the WWPR can be found here.

Prayer Chain Ministry
Each week prayer requests from parishioners are distributed by e-mail to Prayer Ministers and our Small Church Communities who pray daily for these needs. Many of our homebound parishioners participate in this ministry offering daily prayers for the needs of our parishes. Prayer requests can be dropped into the box at the back of the church or phoned in to the parish office. Prayer requests may be made by first name only in order to preserve confidentiality. Also, please let us know if the request has been answered so that we can give thanks to God. Contacts for each of the parish prayer chains can be found in the bulletin.
