Christ is risen, He is truly risen! Happy Easter, and God bless you all. I’ve always enjoyed looking back over Lent to see what fruit our sacrifices have born; it’s an experience of hope and renewal for the future, knowing that Our Lord will continue the good work that He has begun in us. This year has been a Lent unlike any other, and in many ways, even though we can now celebrate with the Risen Lord,
we are still awaiting the fulness of joy that is celebrating with others and with
our entire family.
But instead of continuing to focus on what this pandemic and circumstances have taken away from us, let’s use Easter Week to focus on the gift that God has given His people: the gift of eternal life for all those who believe and put their trust in Him. We may still feel isolated, and people are still missing out on the fullness
of attending Mass and receiving Communion in person, but Christ has shattered the prison bars of death, and He calls us to follow after Him. My own frail words cannot capture the reality of the joy we celebrate, and prose in general struggles to portray the mysteries in which we revel. So we turn to poetry. Meditate on the Easter sequence, and pray together in thanksgiving with your family. Jesus Christ is
Risen, rejoice, alleluia!
Prayers always,
Fr. McC
Christians, to the Paschal Victim
Offer your thankful praises!
A Lamb the sheep redeems;
Christ, who only is sinless,
Reconciles sinners to the Father.
Death and life have contended
in that combat stupendous:
The Prince of life, who died, reigns immortal.
Speak, Mary, declaring
What you saw, wayfaring.
“The tomb of Christ, who is living,
The glory of Jesus’ resurrection;
bright angels attesting,
The shroud and napkin resting.
Yes, Christ my hope is arisen;
to Galilee he goes before you.”
Christ indeed from death is risen,
our new life obtaining.
Have mercy, victor King, ever reigning!
Amen. Alleluia.
